There is no universal number, and any answer that does not name a product is a guess. Re-entry and drying times are set by the label of the specific product used, and they range from no restriction at all to a defined period.
What determines it
- The productDifferent active ingredients and formulations carry different instructions.
- The application methodGel bait placed in a cabinet hinge is not the same as a liquid applied to a surface, and neither is the same as a space treatment.
- Where it was appliedAnd whether that is somewhere you or a child or a pet will contact.
What to ask, before the visit if possible
- Is there a re-entry period, and how long
- Does anything need to dry before it is touched
- Are there surfaces that should not be cleaned for a period, and which
- Anything different for children, pets or someone with a respiratory condition
If you have already been treated
If you have already been treated and nobody told you, ask now. The building has the label information and this is a reasonable question with a specific answer.
One thing to avoid
Assuming a rule you read somewhere applies. “Stay out four hours” or “wipe everything down afterwards” may be right for one product and wrong for another, and wiping down a treated area can remove the treatment.
