1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how No Bug Pest Control, Inc. ("No Bug," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information in the course of providing pest control services to property managers, building owners, supers, and tenants in New York City — primarily multifamily apartment buildings in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
This policy covers our website (nobugpest.com), our business operations, and the SMS and email communications we send to coordinate service.
2. Information we collect
From property managers and building owners
- Business contact information — company name, contact name, role, email address, phone number, business address
- Building information — addresses, unit counts, access details, super contact information
- Service history — work orders, treatments performed, recurring routes, billing records
- HPD and compliance information shared with us to respond to violations
From tenants (when we service a unit)
- Unit number and building address
- Names and contact information you provide when scheduling or describing a pest issue
- Mobile phone number — only when you voluntarily sign up for Building Service Alerts (see Section 4)
- Photographs of treatment areas and proof-of-service documentation
- Signatures captured on service forms (paper or digital)
From visitors to nobugpest.com
- Information you submit through contact forms or email links — name, email, phone, building list, message content
- Basic usage information from your browser — IP address, browser type, pages viewed. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Schedule and perform pest control services
- Coordinate access with supers, property managers, and tenants
- Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and service-completion notifications
- Generate and deliver invoices, service records, and HPD response packages
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
- Maintain compliance with NYS DEC, HPD, Local Law 55, Local Law 69, and other applicable regulations
- Improve our internal operations
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell information.
4. SMS messaging (text messages)
This section describes how we use SMS. It is the section that mobile carriers reference for our A2P 10DLC compliance.
Who we send SMS messages to
We send transactional SMS messages to two groups of recipients, both of whom must voluntarily opt in. SMS consent is not required to receive pest control service, and recipients may decline SMS while still receiving full service.
- Property managers, building owners, and authorized contacts (B2B). Opt-in happens at https://nobugpest.com/sms-signup.html, our service-update preferences page. The form offers an explicit choice between "Email only" (selected by default) and "Email + SMS." Anyone can submit the form on the Email-only option and receive full pest control service and all service updates — SMS consent is never required to complete the form or receive service. Selecting Email only does not establish new SMS consent, and it does not revoke consent already given: anyone already receiving our texts can reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. If a contact voluntarily selects the SMS option, an SMS consent checkbox is shown. It is unchecked by default and can be left unchecked. Only contacts who actively check the box are enrolled in SMS; their consent is recorded with a timestamp. All required disclosures — message types, frequency, "message and data rates may apply," STOP/HELP instructions, and links to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service — appear directly next to the consent controls before submission. SMS enrollment may be declined or revoked at any time without affecting pest control service.
- Tenants in buildings we service — Building Service Alerts. Opt-in happens at https://nobugpest.com/tenant-alerts.html, reached directly or by scanning a QR code on the service notice posted in the building. The page is public and requires no login. A tenant enters their name, building address, apartment, and mobile number, then actively checks an SMS consent checkbox that is unchecked by default. Building Service Alerts are not yet live. When they launch, we will send one confirmation text; alerts will begin only if the tenant replies YES from that handset. A tenant who never signs up, or who signs up and does not reply YES, receives no alerts — and their building's pest control service is identical either way. Signing up is never required to receive service.
What messages we send
Service Notifications (property managers and building contacts):
- Work order receipt and scheduling confirmations
- Appointment confirmations and reminders
- Tech-arrival notifications (typically 15–60 minutes before arrival)
- Service-completion notifications, sometimes with a link to the signed service record
- Operational coordination — schedule changes, access issues, follow-up scheduling
Building Service Alerts (tenants):
- Service-day reminders for the building
- Preparation instructions before a visit
- Post-treatment instructions, including safety information
- Missed-visit and access notices
- Schedule changes
- Follow-up questions about whether the problem is resolved
Recipients may reply to these messages. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS on either program.
Message frequency
Frequency varies based on active service. A typical recurring-service contact may receive 1–6 messages per month. Tenants typically receive 1–5 messages per scheduled service.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. No Bug does not charge you for SMS messages.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and no further SMS from No Bug. Because we operate two separate SMS programs, a STOP reply to either one stops both — we treat any STOP as a request to end all No Bug text messages to that number. If you later want messages again, there are two steps: first reply START to the number you stopped (this lifts the carrier-level block), then sign up again on the applicable signup page. Signing up again on its own is not enough — without the START, messages remain blocked.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message, or contact [email protected] or call (551) 265-1725.
Carriers and delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We use Twilio as our SMS delivery provider.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS information may be processed by service providers such as Twilio, Airtable, and Cloudflare solely to operate our communications and systems — never for their own marketing.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with the parties needed to operate the service:
- Our technicians and operations staff — for scheduling and service delivery
- Property managers and building owners — for service records, invoices, and HPD response documentation related to their buildings
- Service vendors that power our operations: Airtable (records), Cloudflare (website and infrastructure), Twilio (SMS), Resend (email), DocsAutomator (document generation), and standard accounting software. These vendors process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security policies.
- Government agencies — when required by law or to respond to HPD violations, regulatory inquiries, or court orders
We do not sell, rent, or trade information. We do not share mobile numbers or consent records with third parties for any marketing or promotional purpose.
6. How long we keep information
We keep records for as long as needed to operate the service, support our property manager clients, defend against potential disputes, and comply with regulatory recordkeeping requirements (typically seven years for service and billing records). SMS consent and opt-out records are retained for the life of the consent and a reasonable period after opt-out.
7. Your rights and choices
You may:
- Request a copy of the information we hold about you
- Request that we correct inaccurate information
- Request that we delete information, subject to recordkeeping obligations
- Opt out of SMS messages at any time (reply STOP to any message)
- Opt out of operational emails (reply to the email or contact us)
Contact [email protected] to make any of these requests.
8. How we protect information
We protect information using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted transmission, access controls, and vendor agreements. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify affected parties as required by law.
9. Children
Our services are directed to property managers, building owners, and adult tenants. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes that affect your rights will be communicated directly when possible.
